Getting Started - NexusLaunch Docs

One Launcher. Infinite Worlds.

Installation & Setup

Follow these three steps to get NexusLaunch running on your Windows 10/11 machine and ready to manage your cross-platform gaming library.

1. Download & Install

Run the NexusLaunch-2.4.1-Setup.exe installer. During the wizard, select your preferred installation drive (C:\Program Files\NexusLaunch recommended) and check "Create Desktop Shortcut" and "Add to PATH". The installer will automatically configure the required Visual C++ Redistributables and DirectX 12 runtime components.

2. Import Existing Libraries

Launch NexusLaunch and navigate to Library > Import Sources. Toggle switches for Steam, Epic Games, GOG, and Ubisoft Connect. The scanner will locate your existing game directories without modifying original client files. Click "Sync Metadata" to pull cover art, launch options, and update status for each title.

3. Configure Preferences

Head to Settings > Performance to enable Upscaling (NVIDIA DLSS/AMD FSR) and set your default resolution overlay. Under Settings > Controls, map your DualSense or Xbox Elite controller profiles. Enable "Background Auto-Updates" to keep patches downloading silently while you play.

Troubleshooting

Encountering a snag during setup? These are the most common configuration hurdles reported by our beta testers and how to resolve them instantly.

Missing dxil.dll or vcruntime140.dll

If NexusLaunch fails to launch with a missing DLL error, run the installer again and select "Repair". Ensure your Windows feature "DirectX End-User Runtime" is enabled via Optional Features in Settings. Restart your PC after the repair completes.

Library Scanner Shows 0 Games

NexusLaunch requires read permissions for your game directories. Right-click the NexusLaunch shortcut, select "Run as administrator" once, then re-run the import scan. If using a non-standard Steam library path, manually add the drive root in Settings > Directories.

Overlay Not Rendering in DX11/Vulkan

The NexusOverlay hooks into the render pipeline post-initialization. If it fails to appear, disable fullscreen optimizations on the game executable, then re-enable the overlay in Settings > Interface. Clear the overlay cache by deleting the %appdata%\NexusLaunch\overlay_temp folder.
